Donation Policy

Effective Date: [03/02/2026]

1. Tax-Exempt Status

Hopeful Disasters is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Donors will receive written acknowledgment of contributions in accordance with IRS requirements.

2. Use of Contributions

All donations are made to Hopeful Disasters as a nonprofit organization and are used to further its charitable, religious, and educational mission.

Hopeful Disasters retains full ownership, control, and discretion over all contributed funds. Contributions are administered in a manner consistent with the organization’s mission and applicable nonprofit laws and regulations.

3. Designated Gifts

Donors may indicate a preference that their contribution support a particular initiative, program, event, or ministry effort.

Such preferences are considered donor designations and do not create legally binding restrictions unless specifically agreed to in writing by Hopeful Disasters.

All designated contributions remain the property of Hopeful Disasters and are subject to the oversight and fiduciary responsibility of its leadership and Board of Directors.

Hopeful Disasters retains the authority to redirect designated funds when:

  • The designated purpose has been fulfilled,

  • The designated purpose becomes impracticable or impossible,

  • The redirection is necessary to comply with legal, operational, or fiduciary obligations,

  • Or organizational leadership determines that reallocation better advances the mission of Hopeful Disasters.

In circumstances where an initiative leader or Digital Missionary voluntarily requests that funds designated to their initiative be reallocated to another organizational purpose, such reallocation may occur at the discretion of Hopeful Disasters leadership, subject to applicable governance oversight.

This policy ensures responsible stewardship and alignment with the mission and long-term sustainability of Hopeful Disasters.

4. Restricted Contributions

If Hopeful Disasters formally accepts a restricted contribution, the restriction must be documented in writing and agreed upon by the organization. Restricted funds will be used solely for the agreed-upon purpose.

5. Recurring Contributions

Recurring donations may be modified or canceled at any time by contacting Hopeful Disasters or by accessing the donor’s giving account.

6. Refund Policy

Hopeful Disasters seeks to process contributions accurately and in accordance with donor intent.

Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the original transaction. Approved refunds will be issued using the original payment method when possible.

7. Privacy

Hopeful Disasters respects donor privacy and does not sell or share personal information except as required by law or necessary to process contributions.
